It has been a unique tradition for the Jainis in the temple who used to offer the highest bid for Nirvan Laddu availing the chance for worshipping the Lord Mahaveer.

History : It has been recently a fact discovered that the birth place of Lord Mahaveera too lies in in Nalanda at Kundalpoor. Facts are based on archaeological evidences as temples, palaces have been unearthed around this area. It is obvious that Lord Mahaveer spent his much time in and around this locality in teaching his disciples.
Kundalpur is apart from Pawapuri in about 1K.M. from Nalanda University site where the  Digamberas believe that Vardhaman Mahavira, the last and 24th Tirthankars of the Jains was borne here. Naturally Kundal pur is a sacred place of the Jains. But according to some historians the birth place of Lord Mahavira was at Kundgram, a village in Vaishali which has been the capital of the ancient Republic of the Lichchavis.
